Much publicity was placed on this book when it was discovered that the writer of this book, Robert Galbraith is in fact the wonderful and very well-known, best seller story teller and writer named J.K. Rowling. Naturally when it caught wind who the pseudonym belonged to, the book quickly sold out in stores and online.
So when the opportunity presented itself and I saw this on offer, I quickly snatched this up.
This is definitely a cannot-put-down book and somehow reading this book I can see what is going on instead of just reading words in a book. It is true to Rowling's ability to make stories come to life. It was present in the Harry Porter series and the book under her name The Casual Vacancy which were all very good read.
The story revolves around the family Landry and trying to prove that the death of Lula Landry who fell from her luxurious apartment's balcony was in fact murder and not suicide.
Private detective Cormoran Strike was hired to investigate this by Lula's brother, John Bristow. Landry is actually their mother's maiden name. Lula and John were adopted. In fact there were three siblings in the Bristow family. The other is Charlie who died very young when he fell into a quarry while cycling. Cormoran and Charlie were friends then. So with that in mind, John believed that Cormoran would take the case despite the fact that police have closed the case citing suicide as cause of death.
John however did not realised that even though Cormoran is a wounded war veteran both physically and psychologically, with his personal and financial life now in shambles, would and could put a thorough investigation and eventually identify him as the killer of both Lula and Charlie.
