Its the proverbial money talks...there are always demands and it needs supply. Buyers never seemed to care on the safety too but more on the lifestyle and home address.
We see the 1993 highland towers incident and it just keep coming back.
Yes, I agree somewhat that buyers too should pay attention on safety of the area they purchase their homes at.
However, if the authority plus developer paint a beautiful picture of the location and hide the risk factor of the location, then buyers would never know.
Local council i.e. approving authority, must take the upper hand and be truthful and honest about the whole development since they are the ones who at the end of the day give the final okay and safe-to-occupy stamp of approval. So at the end of the day, it is still the local council who should take the blame.
If they have outlined extensive research and findings on the area, given their professional opinions on the high risk factor and still buyers buy, then yes, I point the finger at the buyers.
