Race Day
Pit ready for car to come in

On lap 32, the safety car was sent out to assess the situation when the rain came, but it quickly became obvious that conditions were impossible, and the race was red-flagged.

Even when the rain began to ease the huge areas of standing water on the circuit and low light made re-starting the race impossible.

Rain halted race!!

Pit crew attending to their cars in the pouring rain.
Pit crew running to their race cars stopped on track due to the red flag.

Pit lane absolutely drenched!

The race was won by Jenson Button, followed by Nick Heidfeld and Timo Clock based on the finishing order on lap 31 – the lap before the red flag came out.

As the race did not reach the required 75% distance (i.e. 42 laps) needed for full points to be awarded, half-points were given instead.
